BEVERIDGE PARK WELL

KIRKCALDY CIVIC SOCIETY

On Saturday 19th March 2005 at 11am KCS held an unveiling ceremony of a new feature in the park, a water supply well. The well was originally situated in Chapel Village.

The picture on the left shows Councillor Alice Soper (right) performing the unveiling and Mrs Ann Watters (left).

The well can be seen from the Raith Gates entrance to the park. It is nearby the lodge.

Unfortunately, due to health and safety regulations, the well is not connected to the water supply and is only a decorative feature but it may remind the public of the old drinking fountain that was once in the area.

From the year the park was opened (1892) there was a drinking fountain near the Raith gates entrance.

The water supply was cut off in 1979 and the drinking fountain was removed in 1988.
