Mr Mark Lena unveils the plaque
The Royal Restaurant, Port Brae

The picture on the right shows The Merchant's House when it had a central front chimney and was the popular Royal Restaurant, famous for fish teas.

 

Occupying the section on the lower left of the building was the local Post Office.

On Tuesday 19th June 2007 at 11.00am a KCS & Scottish Historic Buildings Trust plaque was unveiled by Mr Mark Lena to inform people about the history of the 16th Century Merchant's House.

 

Mr Mark Lena is the grandson of Johnny Lena who owned the building, running the well known fish & chip shop.
